Hi every1, need gurus advice here. Currently i am using speedtouch 536v6 to connect up 1 PC & mioTV. However, now i need to hook up additional 2xlaptop. Can any gurus advice what hardware i should get?

Another question, after i setup the PC as the master & let say everything is complete shutdown, can i just power up the wireless modem/router to connect the laptops without powering up the PC?

Thanks in advance :)

ok i will go down sim lim later to take a look.

After setup is done, can i use the laptops or the mio set-top for access without powering up the PC? i.e just switch on the router & modem? Sorry for the noob question, nvr setup b4 :)

Yes, but its confusing, you using mio 2wire box or speedtouch modem? If you wanna save trouble and multiple device to setup, buy all-in-one modem/router/wireless, so only one device to manage, like the suggest WAG200G suggestion below. More chio one is WAG160N.

i'm not using mio 2wire box, just a mioTV set-top box connecting to my speedtouch via ruckus

some updates:

i've hooked up to a dlink-624 successfully to my laptops except now my miotv setup (modem->lan port2->ruckus->miotv set-top box) cannot see anything. any settings i should have set? previously it was modem->ruckus->miotv

how should i setup to do file transfers from PC to laptops?

thanks

hmm... I all along thought that the above will never work ?

Your previous configuration is:

ST536 > Ethernet Cable > Ruckus > Mio TV

and

ST536 > USB > PC

am i correct to say that ?

and yours is DI-624...

when liangtam above mentioned that you need both a switch and router. he really meant a switch and a router.

MIO TV only works when you go directly to the ST536 or 2wire router. The arrangement should be like this

ST536 > Switch(port1) > Ruckus > Mio TV
-----------Switch(port2) > DI-624 > PC/Notebook(s)

port 1&2 is just an example of whichever port you plugged into it.

currently your arrangement will not work as you are doing it as the following

ST536 > DI-624(port1) > ruckus > MioTV
-----------DI-624(port2)/wireless > PC/Notebook(s)

for the following only your internet works.
oh... and filesharing will work as well. Its all left with your PC settings.

Did you perform bridge mode for ST536 ?

For sharing wise:
Vista? Network and Sharing centre
XP? Network and sharing wizard

hi, my second laptop is unable to detect my network even after i refresh the available wireless network i did not see my network there. I am able to connect this second laptop to wireless@sg so i assume the hardware is ok.

No problem was encountered on my first laptop. Any idea? :o

Thanks
