Help guys.
Just bought a Vista 32-bit (first time)
Try to use linksys wireless adapter WUSB54G Version 4 to connect to my Linksys adapter.
At first, using driver that come with it (old version should be for XP) then try connecting to modemn but BSOD. :(

Read thru the forum and understand that it might be driver problem.
Now here the trick, I update the driver but it still shows 2.0.2.0 version dated 2005.
I read the netr70.inf file that the version should be 3.XX Version dated 2006

I try to rename c:\windows\system32\drivers\rt2500.usb and reinstall.. but still have the same problem.

Extra info. I download the official driver verion from linksys webby.

Any help is appreciated. :)

First off, it's not such a bad idea to let windows find a driver for your device. There are vista drivers that vista can automatically download and use if you allow it to. Loading your old driver from the cd is just a bad move.
Yes that's how I got mine to work with no hassle. Windows did everything for me on plugging in.

Uninstall your current driver and install using the new drivers from linksys. When you plug in the device and it doesn't pick up the newer drivers, you can update driver in device manager and browse to the new linksys drivers folder to get windows to search there for the updated drivers.

Whatever you're trying to accomplish in renaming of files please stop. It's not necessary neither is it a correct way to solve driver problems.

okie. got it to work..
when i uninstall the driver. remember to tick 'delete the installation file'..
after that rescan hardware changes to detect the adapter.
then install the latest driver.

if did not delete the installation file, it will always used the old version instead of the new version.

tidus. i can't connect to internet without adapter hence vista is unable to let me download..
renaming of files is a method taught by the forumers here to stop using the drivers.
