View Full Version : 2 comps,2 ISP,can I bridge the 2 comps together and browse files?

Hi guys...

I want to connect two computers together in order to be able to browse folders/files from one computer to the other.

here's my scenario:


Computer A: cablemodem -> router -> computer


Computer B: ADSL -> computer



Computer A is where I want to do the browsing from and have VNC client.
Computer B, VNC server.


So, Computer A has a NIC with it's private IP (192.168.1.2) and the router is the gateway (192.168.1.1).
So I have LAN options in A as static, with the router as gateway and dns server.


Computer B has a public IP, from a different ISP.


How can I get A to "talk" to B?

I was thinking of putting in a second NIC in B, , hook it up to the router, and set up A's router as gateway with a private IP (say 192.168.1.3)



would this work?

Just connect lor, it will auto work with windows.

LOL

"lor" is just an exclamation word at the end, another example is "mah". :s13:

When he wrote "lor", he just meant for u to connect as what u drew in the picture.

i made a booboo. it should be connected directly to the other PC instead.

Your diagram shows an ADSL router but you mentioned computer B is having a public IP, which is correct?

If ADSL router, then connect both routers together and set them as follows:

Router 1 (to cable modem)
IP=192.168.1.1
DHCP=on

Computer A
IP=192.168.1.10 (or auto)
Gateway=192.168.1.1 (or auto)
DNS=SH DNSes (or auto)

Router 2 (ADSL)
IP=192.168.1.254
DHCP=off

Computer B
IP=192.168.1.200
Gateway=192.168.1.254
DNS=Singnet DNSes
