my laptop self detect whether i have a lan connection or wireless connection.

the problem is that when i connect to lan, it has conflicts with the wireless as its also detecting wireless network within the vicinity
thus taking longer to establish the right connection, or worse stuck there with no traffic coming in, though showing connection.

1. i way to solve this is to disable wireless before connecting lan, but also disable my BT conection which i need to use also

how do tackle this issue?

its running on vista. as i tot pc can self detect and connect to whichever stronger signal/connection

It depends what the subnet on your LAN is set to.

What you can do is to set on your PC which access point to use when they are within proximity.

The best is not to automatically connect to any wireless network and do it manually when you are ready.

There is a way to switch off wireless but not bluetooth when you are on LAN connection. You can try to disable wireless using the software rather than the hardware switch.

Just bring up the Wireless Network list and press the Disconnect.

As long as no networks are marked "Automatic" you should be safe.
