Hi,

I need to cover about 5000 sq m of office area with wifi. Could you recommend me the cheapest route to go? The wifi is for communication between 5 to 8 PCs and 1 server loaded with 1 program. No internet will be allowed on the PCs. The farthest distance from 1 end of the office to another is about 200-250 meters. I need something fairly secure so that nobody could mess with the wifi settings. Could anybody recommend the best route to go? Is it to buy all routers (5 or 6 enough?) or 1 router and a few AP/repeaters?

Thank you in advance.

As you have only a small number of machines that are on the network you can go with 1 wireless router and several repeaters.

However please keep this in mind.

1. No wireless network is safe despite encyrption unless you keep changing the keys on a regular basis

2. Restriction based on MAC address can only protect you as long as no one get details on your computers. Eventually a MAC address can be cloned once this information is available.

3. You will need to firewall your PCs to prevent internet connection.

You will find that the cheapest solution based on price vs security will be to lay cables in the office in sealed conduits or casing.

This will provide you the best option for security, as WIFI is exposed even it it is not broadcasting.

I hope this helps

It would be in the best position for you to get other coy's service for this task.

Thank you. There are 5 office buildings across the area, so laying cables will not be the best option. What would be the best router or repeaters in the market right now that I could consider? Any recommendation?
