Hi,

I need some help from the experts here. I've gotten a Linksys WMP54G Wireless adaptor version 4.1 (PCI) for my new computer.

The problems I've been facing was that the computer was unable to associate with the Singtel Mio's network.

What i've tried is that I have to take out the Wireless adaptor and plug it back in for it to work.

The Singtel Mio's modem is 2Wire 2700 HGV2.

Initially, it was set at Channel 6 and I've read that it might be an issue. So I've changed it to channel 10 instead. At the same time, I changed the network name as well to ensure that it can be detected by the system.

but after working well for 2 days, it end up being unable to detect the network again.

Are there other solutions?

Please let me know if i need to provide any more information to solve this problem.

The hardware can be detected by Windows XP. There were no problems, no question marks or exclamation mark on the hardware.

But for the network is a different story.

When i plug out from the PCI slot and put back in again, it will be able to detect the network.

After 2-3 days usage (including shut downs and start up of about 3 times), it will suddenly be unable to detect the network.

That's fast, i just bought it like less than 1 week ago.

It is brand new, not 2nd hand though. Anyone experienced the same problem before?

You mean, you can see your modem in the wireless network list, but you just can't connect?

If that's the case, just right-click your wireless icon and select Repair.

If you have selected automatic connection to your modem it will connect back.

You're referring to the Linksys Wireless Monitor? If yes, I'm using that instead of the windows XP wireless connection program.

MrJacky, what happens is that it will keep searching and will not display any network in my area.

Previously i thought it was due to that i shut off the SSID broadcast but even when i switched it back on, it was unable to detect any network at all.

The exact error message from the linksys utility was "Unable to associate with modem."

Tried calling linksys today, i was put on hold for about 15-20 mins. End up the dude who answered the call was supposed to send me the link to the new driver but the email did not came through at all.

I just help myself and go to the US website and d/l it. uninstall the current version and installed the "new" version.

now i'm monitoring the situation.

i updated the driver. So far so good. Just that some times it will not be able to connect again.

But after searching for network and reconnect back, it'll be fine.

Make sure you get the version number right in order to get the correct driver.
