regarding my home network...

i am on the mio plan with mio voice... so i am using the 2wire 2701HGV-E modem cum router...

wat i want to noe is if i want to allocate my download speed for example 10mbps i want my PC to have 8mbps and my laptop 2mbps or something like tt...

secondly, i 1 2 restrict online timings for my computers eg. my laptop can online 24/7 but my desktop can onli online from maybe 1200hrs to 1600hrs... in that sense...

can anyone teach me how??? or anything i can add onto my network...

"Cheapest" way I can think of is set your 2wire to bridge mode, buy a ddwrt (www.dd-wrt.com) supported router, then buy their paid firmware and you can set per bandwidth QoS control.

if u wanna allocate speed for different user, tink only 3rd party firmware can. like ddwrt. it also can restrict the timing..

tink tat 2wire cant do the allocation of speed. u might wan to bridge 2wire, n get a router n flash to ddwrt.

Sure, if you want improve character and hiring knowledge, buy a cisco router and learn how to configure traffic shaping on the IOS.

both cannot be done.
And if u change eq for some ability, you'll lose mio Voice theorectically.

Take ur pick :)

seems possible to work if i bridge another router and flash it with dd-wrt... leave my phone connected to the 2wire 2701HGV-E and disable the wireless on it... so all connections will go thru the dd-wrt router... am i correct?? i came up with this after an hour of reading up on dd-wrt...

now just deciding which is a cheaper router i shld buy...

but still up for more ideas...

oops..u r using mio voice, so dont bridge your 2wire, leave it as it is. jus disable wireless, than connect to another router to manage all the connections ba.

Connect one of the LAN port of the 2WIRE to the router.

Even if you don't bridge your 2WIRE your router will still work.

Free firmware is just prioritization, no absolute bandwidth allocation that you desire.
