Hi, recently Singtel installed for me a new 2wire 2701HG-E modem as i had ordered the mio tv service. The problem is that when i surf the net, most websites including speedtest.net, google.com and yahoo.com take very long to load (or dont even load). I did a speed test (speedtest.net) and its results match my internet speed of 3mbps. When i switch back to my previous 2700HGV-2 modem , the speed according to speedtest.net is similar to that when the newer modem is being used. However, unlike the previous scenario, websites load perfectly without any lag whatsoever..

I called up singtel and they told me that they had checked everything and that there were no problems whatsoever. What is the latest firmware for 2701hg-e what do you think is the cause of the problem i had mentioned earlier.

Thank you

I am not using mio voice. Initially i was using but switched back to normal telephone line. I have reset the settings of my 2701hg-e many times, connected it and disconnected many times... but still got prob.. My older modem works fine but i still want to be able to use the new one..

Problem Solved!!!

What i did was to key in "home/mdc" in ie/firefox with password "2wire". Then i restored the modem to factory settings. Everything works perfectly now... As for me i dont use mio voice so for those using mio voice do remember to key in the code required for voip.. finally i get to use the 2701hg-e peacefully...

where the heck did u keyed the home/mdc in?

its broadband and don't need any acc name and password on the internet explorer side?

u just need to key in ur acc name and password in the modem settings.

just access your modem's setting page and change the necessary settings.

oh....only those with mio voice have this setting, can't access this for my 2wire modem... might be due to remote management disabled....

U have to key in "home/mdc" in your address bar after which you will be prompted for a password. The password is "2wire"

Yeah it's kinda odd, sometimes after a factory reset, it fixes itself LOL

Update:

Just realised that whenever utorrent is running the surfing speed becomes extremely slow and many pages dont even load...

However, with my old modem even with utorrent running and downloading the surfing speed is normal

I've decided to stick to the old modem
