Hello guys! Currently i wish to change my Qala line to Singnet due to high price i'm paying for merely a 1.5mbps.
But termination of existing ADSL will take up to 1 month and i have to pay a sum of money, since i'm changing service provider and wish to retain my ADSL activated line. I called up singnet helpdesk to enquire they like don't know anything one and ask me to call up Qala.
Anyone is it possible to retain the activate line, and just switch provider? Or i must follow their way termination 1 month, and than jump ship? Cause i need internet to do my work, i cannot afford to wait 1 month sia. Hope someone can help me what should i do! Thanks!

The action is irreversible, you sure? :)
There is also no other way around this.

First of all, have you called up Qala and see if they any new promo? What you can do is to simply send a termination notice to Qala as required. There should not be any charge for termination. Then sign up with SingNet and tell them to activate your line of a specific date, which is the same day as the day Qala should be terminating your internet. Probably down time for like a few hours.

Wooo azacamis so long never see you liao :D Used to visit your site! Very informative, learn alot stuff from it :D
Hmm i recall last time i called up they say termination will take 1 month? As in i terminate today, my BB line stop today and take up to 1 month for the ADSL phone line to stop? Than i can resign up singnet? <-- does it works like that cause i not very sure also..
Will ask for promotion, hopefully a good 1 so can stay with them! Top notch service from them can't bare to leave, but the premium price and 1.5mbps only :(

i used to be from qala then move to singnet early this year. If i'm not wrong, qala requires 1 month termination notice in advance. So once you fax the termination letter, the sales ppl will call you up telling you which is the last day of your qala adsl. Then you call up singnet ppl to activate the adsl line as the same day qala terminate theirs.

No, the notice of 1 month means ur service with them will end in a month's time or any date as specified by you to qala, provided its longer than 1 mth. You will still get to use the service and have to pay for it.
Example:
You called in on the 31st of Dec. Your last day of service is 31st of Jan. You can still use qala between 1-31 and have to pay for this month also.
Diff ISP provides diff quality of service. Reason why some is expensier than other..
One thing to note, your service to continuity of internet service WILL be interrupted. This may be hours or days, call SingTel n ask when is the earliest u can activate immediately after the last day.

Wah i see i see! But can i subscribe Singnet first between the 1 month when i sent in the termination of services, and ask them to activate after the last day of termination?
Hmm liangtam the continuity of internet service will be interrupted is due to have to wait for them to activate the adsl line right? <-- Not due to line issue etc?
Oh ya Arcanell any issue u face when u migrate over to Singnet from Qala? Line issue etc? Btw are u previous on this plan, where they give you free 100mb webhost?

No line issue. My internet was down for 2-3 days when i terminate my qala. Previously i'm on 512k plan and yea with 130mb webhost (cus i did a contract renew before). I can still check my qala email tho :D

Wah! They never remove the webhost service ah haha! Btw can i ask you some personal question? :P Any hold back when you wanna terminate Qala? Cause its like once you jump ship you cannot go back :(
For me i have been holding back and resisting other ISP crazy gift deal like lappy xbox for many years! Until i tried my uncle Singnet 8mbps plan. i was like man 1000kbps download speed, and surprisingly connection speed to AU game server was much better.

u get the speed but not the service
since u opted for 10mbps, it wont be seamless migration.
line profile change is needed

I was happy with qala service then but they do not have any new promotions so i jump to singnet. I was paying like $45/mth for 512k whereas other ISP is offering $30/mth for the same speed. In the end, i settle for singnet 3mpbs promo for $500 for 2 years, which is about slightly > $20/mth. Very happy with singnet speed...
