Hi guys!

I am seeking for advise on how to "pump" up my MOL Premium connection...

For hardware, I am using the Hubstation (DCI62SHB) built in cable modem which i suppose do support up to 32mbps MOL plans, right?

Also connected is the Belkin wireless G Plus MIMO router (F5D9230-4).
and my PC is connected through ethernet cable to this router.

However, after many tests on speedtest.net, the highest speed I have managed to attain so far is only 1000 plus kbps. (not even 1100 kbps,. i think)

I tot maybe the Belkin router is reducing the throughput, so I plugged in the ethernet cable from my PC to the hubstation directly. But no improvement.

I am wondering what could be significantly reducing the speed of my MOL connection which has max of 12mbps. Eventhough it is not practical to reach the whole 12 mbps, but can't drop till around 1mpbs only rite?

Some considerations.. could it be
1) My Network Card problem? ... i am using Realtek RTL8101E Ethernet NIC

2) Presence of 2 splitters from the SCV cable point to the hubstation?.... due to the distance i require from the point to my TV area...

3) Starhub has not linked my MOL premium plan to the hubstation .... i just received the hubstation 2 weeks ago.

Can anyone (experts out there.. hehe) assist me with this?

Thank you very muchhhh
:)

Seriously, why tie ur premium to hubstn.
This is not worth, n when the hubstn overheats, u can kiss goodbye to ur connection until they come down change, and go for another round of activation.

I just logged in to My Account Manager and noticed that the MAC ID tagged to my MOL was still showing the MAC ID of the old cable modem.
I have thus changed it to the hubstation MAC ID and now wait to see what happens after they updated the hardware ID.

Guess I have been using the Hubstation free 1mbps to surf.. :P
(is it possible to reach more than 1000 kbps on speedtest then?)

keep u all updated. cheers!

i bet it can. :)
here you go:
MOL Approved Hardware (http://www.starhub.com/portal/site/Online/menuitem.f2b59af84f3db376da055b608324a5a0/?vgnextoid=eca5b3fa0df97110VgnVCM100000464114acRCRD)

Look at the first pointer for the Hubstation. "Recommended for all MOL Plans"

Cheers!

But the Hubstation description reads

Monthly rental: $8.56^

Recommended for all MaxOnline plans. Supports download speeds of up to 32Mbps only
160GB Hard Disk
In-built Cable Modem
Dual Tuner
2 x RCA Composite Video Outputs
2 x RCA Audio L/R Outputs
1 x YPrPb Component Video Output
1 x Digital Audio Optical Output
1 x USB 2.0 Port
1 x Ethernet 10BaseT Port
1 x RF Output with Loop-Through Functionality

and that is good enough for Premium.

So by right, if we have the Hubstation at home, we can sign up for a maxonline plan without the need to sign a contract or buy a new cable modem?

If you want tie your MOL to your Hubstation, call 1633, tell them to change the HFC MAC ID, and u can be using your Hubstation as your MOL internet with 24 hrs.

No, there is a contract. If you view admin fee within 6 mth for termination, that is.

As mentioned by liangtam.. yes usually SH services require you to carry on for 3 or 6 months.... that could be the minimal contract period if you just sign up for the plan without taking any promotion..

Other than that, since u have the built-in cable modem in your hubstation u don't need to purchase anything more...
Let me update u once i have the MAC ID changed to see if there is any good difference :)

Cheers
