and before anybody jumps on me for not taking starhub or sth: i've already got a line with starhub, and my dad just set the router to use WPA coz i was using the net for too long lol.

anywayyy, after weighing the pros and cons, i've decided to get singnet BB coz i read somewhere that you can't have 2+ MOL lines in 1 house ? not sure if its true, but after reading the MOL horror stories, i'm gonna stay clear (even though i've never encountered any problems with their services). got a couple of questions though..

1) their advertised plans: 1mbps, 3mbps, etc etc
when they're saying mbps, they're referring to MEGABYTE per second and not MEGABIT per second right ? i was checking around, those 2 have different meanings from what i found out, MEGABYTE per second being higher..

2) is the phone line still operational while the modem is connected to the PC using internet ? i read that singnet BB uses the phone line via a ADSL modem or sth

3) stability wise, are there major outages ? i only use bittorrent to download files (fedora, etc etc) so stability isn't really a major issue, even if i get disconnected, i should be able to resume, but i'd like to know if they have problems like not being able to connect for several hours etc etc

4) realistically speaking, how does their 1mbps and 3mbps plan compare to wireless@SG ? i've used W@SG a couple of times outside and the speeds are pretty good and service is pretty stable. same, better or worse ?

sorry for all the "noob" questions, but all this networking stuff is really new to me =/

any input would be very much appreciated

thanks!

Why didnt take Starhub? LOL, just joking.

1 cable point, >10 modem. CAN
1 tele point, >1 modem. CANNOT!

The same unit is always used for networking. bit

Yes, by means of microfilter, aka bandpass filter (BPF)

I serious doubt anyone here uses bt primarily for downloading legal files. :D

Wireless @ SG good for lite surfing and email checking. Otherwise, not much of use.

well i've used W@SG at funan before, and the speeds are not bad, esp considering its a free service. just curious, what is the max speed for free users ?

@kennyg: rs premium>bt, hands down flat out no argument ;)
