Hi all..

recently my china operator was complaining to me that he was having difficulties accessing the net..cant really stay connected to his messenger for 1min..nt to mention any gaming/surfing..

as im limited in networking knowledge..initially i guide him thru the configuration of his old router..so that everyone in his rented house could share the b/w peacefully...(previously some meannie housemate set some rules to restrict everyone else other than himself to enjoy the bandwidth..) So no more problem for nearly 2months...but these few days..the bad housemate was trying to create trouble again..and my operator suspect that he is using one software called P2Pover...he said it was quite popular in china...basically i don really see or use this sw b4...but from his description..i kinda think it is making use of ARP spoofing..but networking isnt really my field so i cant help much but to ask all the gurus here...

so heres the thing..my operator basically has full access to his router..the password was kept to his own..so i don think the other party could do any setting in it..and when he checking all the setting inside..nothing was wrong....so probably that housemate is using some sort of sw to control all the bandwidth of their house connection without touching other pc or even the router itself(which is y i think it sounds like a ARP spoofing even tho i dunno much about it)...

any bros here hav any suggestions?to counter this sw..or solve the problem.....sit down n talk to the housemate isnt work as he is quite unreasonable as from wad i know..

thanks in advance..:s12:

actually ah, if he installs that, get someone else to install the same thing on his own PC, and counter react to it.

of coz i can ask my operator to block off the housemate connection in the router....but i suspect..even if we block him..the ARP spoofing would stil work which means the others stil cant really use the connection smoothly(just wild guessing).....unless we physically plug out the cable..lol...

anyway..i was trying to get things done in peaceful way..best possible option would b everyone get their fair share of bandwidth(even tho the meanie doesnt deserve any..)

try using this

http://sync-io.net/Sec/anti-arpspoof.aspx

BTW, what router are you using?

some have static arp table avail.... so that the ARP table cannot be changed.

some have arp firewall...

im nt sure at all..dats y i was trying to get some help here.. but base on the 'story'...is there any other possibility?my networking knowledge is really limited..so maybe some pros here can giv some advice..

thanks hangyong..would giv that a try...he show me some screenshot of his router..don think it has dat function...its kinda old with minimun features only..

arp poisoning is to intercept the traffic onli, it cant be used as a control to dictate the connection flow on wide scale.

Go the ancient way ...

Hardwire (Lan cable)

Disable Wifi :s13::s13::s13:

wired or wireless, both can be arp poisoned

actually, it can be done.

but its rather complicated.

you direct the traffic that should go to the gateway to yourself, and then re-direct it to its original deistination, based on your own speed control scheme.

Thats what p2pover does anyway.

if i were u, i'll just cut him off... no network access for him

initially i was suggesting to use mac filter...to cut him off from the router...but too bad the router was too old to have that function...:s13:

the most useless function also :)
ever heard of mac spoofing?

why mac filtering ? cut him off by going WIRED, Switch off Wifi.
what is going to do now? hack into neigbouring room, and re-wire it back to his room?

lets say there's 5 rooms, plus router, restrict router and issue ONLY SIX IP address.
