Hi all,

Because my place already has networking (internally, ie: in the walls already :( ) laid by previous owner, I have an internal lan (which does work).

Ideal network configuration below:
2701HGV-E
|
|
Home Internal Lan
|
|
Living room
|
|
Network Switch ---- PS3
|
|
MioTV

The 2Wire modem (2701HGV-E) resides in the store-room which contains the main network switch for the home's internal lan. One of the network lines goes to the living room.

I would like to connect several network devices in the living room, namely a PS3 & MioTV, with the possibility for future expansion. Naturally we would put a network switch at that point and split the network connectivity to the different devices. I tested it, and it works for the PS3, but I have not been successful with the MioTV.

So I am wondering if anyone has been successful in connecting the MioBox behind a network switch, and if so, what was the switch you used, or was there any special configurations or settings that need to be done? Or what can I do to make the above diagram possible? Desperately seeking advice, thanks.

Extra comment - it takes awfully long for MioTV to connect :(

BUT, have been successful without a network switch.

hope that clarifies and thanks for correcting me.

ok...

MioTV and the Internet works one 2 different virtual circuits.

these virtual circuits are configured to work with either of the ports on the 2Wire. One port for one application.

Therefore, the MioTV must be connected directly to 2wire.

Can you try this experiment for me?

Connect the MioTV to the switch, instead of Internet. See if MioTV works.

The above is just for my curiosity.

Home internal LAN refers to the 4 port on 2wire itself or another switch?

Depending on the type of switch, some Switch to switch connection need a crossover cables to work. U can try that.
