Hi everyone. I'm currently having this problem in vista whereby it is shown that I am connected to a network[through a wired connection] and internet. I cannot surf the net having tried with both IE and Firefox. Quitting the torrent program doesn't work either. Strangely, the Windows XP which I run under Microsoft Virtual 2007 allows me to both surf and use utorrent without any problems.

I have tried to
1] Reinstall Firefox
2] ipconfig /release /flush
3] use live messenger troubleshooting which says problem could not be repaired
4] use system restore which appears to be corrupted
5] connect to the router web gui [timed out]
6] ping to my modem 192.168.1.254 and router 192.168.2.1 [got reply under 1ms]
7] disable vista's firewall and NOD32 Antivirus [no difference]

Actually I did an improper shutdown before this happened :s22:. Any idea how to cure it? Thanks in advance

restart modem, restart system.

Guess I found the cure! Sorry for having this redundant thread. But here is something to share, in case it happens to anyone of you.

To repair and reset the Windows Vista

Click on Start button.
Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
Restart the computer (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/18/repair-and-reset-windows-vista-tcpip-winsock-catalog-corruption/#).http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/18/repair-and-reset-windows-vista-tcpip-winsock-catalog-corruption/
