Is there such a product that do not require plugging into the PC?
Meaning just hook it up to a wall socket and it extends the wifi range?
My router is SMC any idea?

Linksys has one called WRE54G. Seen them in Funan. Never tried personally, too expensive. Personally, I've used 3rd party firmware for wifi bridge or use WDS.

forget about using it. it sucks badly. i would recommend u to take homeplug instead but it doesnt fit your above criteria.

u will need a access point or u can use another router with WDS function to extend the range of your wifi signal.

try the belkin range extender F5d7132ak . it will work with any brand.
available in challenger...
lifetime warranty.
bascially, get another AP with repeat function... set the 2nd AP as repeater, it will function as extender...
