Hope this has not been asked before and someone can clarify this:

If I have TWO Hubstations using the FOC 1mbps internet and since each is a modem by itself and each has its own MAC address will I therefore have TWO SEPERATE cable internet connections or just ONE?

If it is TWO SEPERATE internet connections then is there anyway I will be able to bridge the two internet connections together with two routers so that I will just have ONE network in my house?

What happens if I decide to upgrade to MaxOnline and opt to use my hubstation as a modem, will they ask me to choose one to get the upgraded speed and the other still be at 1mbps or will both hubstations have the upgraded speeds?

:s11::s11::s11:

Thanks!

You can bridge them with *one* router, either with commercial routers that supports custom commands, or commercial routers flashed with 3rd party firmware, like ddwrt or tomato and run your own dual-wan commands. Google is your friend ;)

Both will have 1mbps, when u upgrade, Only one hubstation will have the upgraded speed, the other one will still be 1mbs

tink like no point dual WAN both hubstation since bandwidth is come from the same cable.

but if u wanna try, u can use a router n flash to 3rd party firmware, like ddwrt. so tat u would be able to connect both 1Mbps hubstation together.

Wah thanks! never heard of DD-WRT until today.

Good to learn something new from you guys :)

So basically although I am having 2 different internet connections, but since I am basically on the same cable using the same bandwidth, I will be able to use DD-WRT to make it into a single network?

Does this mean if two flats in an apartment block do the same to their routers they will also be able to share one network as well?

normally the peformance of using ddwrt firmware wil be better than original firmware. yup...u wil be able to combine 2 internet together. there is a sticky thread about DUAL WAN in ddwrt website there.

this one i donno lo.. normally they can use internet can ler, y bother abt using ddwrt n research on this leh? haha..

Just read this over at Engadget and this seems like another (costlier) alternative to using DDWRT to share the same network via the same starhub cable

Basically its the Netgear Coax-Ethernet Adapter which allows you to share/extend ethernet signals via cable coaxial cabling in the walls. US$229.99 for pre-order. Hmmm :D

You might as well just lay a ethernet cable over instead. And it still does not solve your problems of bridging both connection together.

so in this case the owner can bridge 1mps to 2mbps connection ?

wah if true .. wat if i bridge 2 30mbps connections together..

It doesn't actually add both the network capacities together. However, it does offer load balancing if your router does it right. So if one line is congested, it'll use the other.

The problem here is, it's both the same line - and Starhub's Hubstation access has been pitifully slow for me.

ohh load balancing..
i read somewhere can do combine bandwith.. sb6100 does this hardware .. though im sure got software .
im using hubstation now :)
slow for downloads but normal surfing better than my room 2mbps . in terms of website loading.
