not sure if this is the right section, mods please move if it isn't.

need abit of help here:

i've got the above USB adapter which afaik is pretty popular i think?
thing is, i get better reception in windows xp sp3 than in windows vista sp1

i was thinking that maybe there's an updated driver but saw nothing when i went to the linksys support page. and the vista autoupdate function keeps on failing for some reason

read up online that some people manually downloaded and installed a "rt2500.sys" file or sth for the adapter? currently using the driver that's on the cd (for windows xp) that came with the adapter, dated 2005 or sth, which is definitely not vista optimised i think

just a comparison: using the same server from the dl link i can get 400kb/s in xp, but i get only 20kbb/s in vista. adapter was placed in the exact same location, firewall was disabled on both.

any idea where i can get an updated driver or maybe there's something i need to do to "optimize" my connection on vista?

Count yourself lucky no infinite BSOD on Vista using the driver from the CD.
