All matches in Italy's top two divisions will be delayed following the Mannini doping ban...
Serie A and B matches will begin with a 15 minute delay this weekend in protest against the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision to ban Napoli midfielder Daniele Mannini and Brescia's Davide Possanzini for one year following a late doping test.
The Italian football authorities have reacted with fury at the decision, and reports claim they will lodge an appeal with the CAS and take their case to the European Court of Justice.
Mannini's and Possanzini's legal teams are working on the case.
In the meantime the Italian Footballers Association, Football League and Italian FA have made a joint decision to delay the kick off of all Serie A and B matches in protest against the decision by the CAS as reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The delay will begin on Friday evening with the Serie B fixture between Modena and Rimini starting later than scheduled.
Although Mannini and Possanzini were originally cleared of any wrong doing by the Italian authorities for turning up late to a doping test in 2007, the World Anti Doping Agency took their case to the CAS and they announced the suspension on Thursday after an investigation into the case.
