Hello Guys, I'm new here and I signed up because I've been having some issues with my router and self-help isn't working.
I'm a Starhub subscriber and I'm using a Linksys WRT54G V5 router for my home since 2004. My home network usually consists of 2 wireless notebooks and 1 wired PC. The router has been pretty flawless until about a year ago where all my clients (including the wired PC) would very occasionally lose their internet connections. They are all unable to ping or access the web interface of the router, and only a reset would restore the connection.
But recently the problems has been getting more frequent (like several times a day) so I switched firmware and used DD-WRT v23 SP1. This didn't help, but there were some differences. Sometimes I could access the router's web interface but it would take longer to load. Sometimes the router would give ping timeouts. When I am able to use the interface, I do a DHCP Release/Renew and the connection would be restored, but when it's unpingable I press the reset button. However sometimes the reset button would not work and I have to resort to unplugging the power cord on the router. By the way the indicator lights for Internet are still flashing, but it won't reset. When I check the connection status window on my wireless clients, there are sent packets but no received packets. However for the wired PC, there are both sent and received packets.
I have tried solutions below but they haven't helped.
1. Disabled DNS Masq
2. Maximum ports lowered to 1024, TCP and UDP timeout 150
Is it a problem with Starhub? Or is it time for me to get a new router? And thanks to anyone who's bothered to read this wall of text.
