View Full Version : Maxonline contract just ended...Should i recontract?
Hey guys
I'm quite stuck as to what to do now...
I've been a maxonline user for more than 8 yrs now i've found their speeds to be getting more and more crappy over time. Youtube streaming sucks, websites take forever to load.
Might be becos i'm still using the first modem i got from them and never upgraded it. :)
I do quite alot of downloads from BT and my avg speed is usually 1- 10 KBs...Thats really freaking slow for my 4Mps express plan.
Been doing my research and i've read that singnet BB has better download speeds for BT.
Should i take the plunge and sign up for singnet 8 Mps? :s11:
I'm residing in bedok btw, mabbe my area sucks for maxonline

change the modem, the old modem sucks.
I changed mine already. on 8Mbps, not bad but will slow down abit during peak hours.

You could have gotten your 4th free modem from them, judging the length of time you stay with SH. If you are sticking with them, you should just re contract and grab their free modems.

Are u running a router. Sometime slow sleep is due to the user nt securing their own wireless network. Maybe try a direct connection to ur PC. Also also wat modem are u using? The old modem since 8yrs ago?
For me once in a while my speed is also pretty slow. I juz simply reset my modem and everythings returns to normal. Certain youtube video seems to load slower for mi as well. BTt wise getting pretty decent speed outta it so i am still sticking with MOL till they come out with a better promo.
If nt switch over to singnet loh. Try to access the speed and situation urself b4 jumping.
I got fren who switch from singnet to starhub. Nw dunno which to switch to le. Singnet gives him DC problem but decent speed. Starhub give him constant connection but sometime sucky speed.

I'm not on a router. My connection is straight from the PC to the cable point..
Somehow i got a huge feeling its due to the crappy out dated modem that i'm still using.
And the starhub operator told me that there wasnt a need to change my modem cos they were still using the same model..

i just re-contract mine. Don't wan the free voice-modem, so they give me 3k points in exchange.
Already dumb with the slow speed already so don't mind re-contract
