View Full Version : About network printer settings
i have a network printer on connected to a switch(connected from a router) with ip 192.168.1.30 on network A and its working fine.
however how come when i plug into my network B with the 2wire gateway, it still has the same ip address and it still can be print when connected to network B, without any change in settings on network B?

why printer ip is 'static' and i do not assign a ip between my dhcp of 192.168.1.64 to 192.168.1.253?

Why u connect another router to a 2WIRE which is also a router leh..........:s11::s11::s11:........ Meaning switch to router to 2WIRE which is impossible.........
sorry, what i meant was network A as its own switch connected from a router..
network B is a different network on 2wire modem cum router
but the printer is swapped around for testing purpose

Maybe wanna try to set your printer to dhcp instead of static meaning let the 2wire modem set a ip for the printer instead of assign a ip to the printer manually......

ts, if the printer has static ip, what is the gateway ip setting on the printer? i belief 2wire and your other router has different address (for gateway).

i can set for other computers connected to the 2wire, but not the printer.
is there a diff between the static ip on the printer and the dhcp range on the 2wire it can support

TS, there is only 1 network (subnet) since both network segment uses 192.168.1.x
The static address is set on the printer itself (common for network printer) so even if nothing is configure on the 2wire router, it will still work. To view/change the printer configuration, either browse to address 192.168.1.30 or access to the control panel on the main printer unit.
am i right to say when we run ipconfig, we can access the gateway from a browser?
