any one have any ideas how to cancel my mio TV 1 year contract without paying the forfeit? I recently just subscribed to Mio TV under a 1 year contract. Less than a month, i found out that the channels are totally crap and wanted to cancel it. However, singtel said that i have to pay them the rest of the 11 months subscription as forfeit..

Is there any way to go around this? yes under black and white, i am in no way to run out of this contract without paying the forfeit, just wanna know if there are any ways that i can get out of this situation without paying the forfeit or pay lesser?

I think best way to break contract is to go court. Try to hire a lawyer to start a litigation and argue this at a court with a judge.

Can't really do that. I believe the terms and conditions are very clear cut as far as early termination is concerned. I supposed since you signed up for it, just ride it out for the year hopefully they have something you like in there.

You can bring the issue to court but it probably is more expensive that way and from what I see, it is not likely you will win the case.

However looking at the MioTV FAQ, it seems like you are able to transfer your contract to another party even while you are still under contract. Perhaps that is your option. There are two fees which you need to pay, an Admin fee of $10.70 and a service call fees of $53.50.

Can I transfer my mio TV service ownership anytime?

Yes, you can transfer your mio TV Service ownership at any point of your contract period and the transferee will continue with the balance of any mio TV Service Subscription period

Do I have to pay if I need to transfer my mio TV ownership?

An admin fee of $10.70 applies. If the transfer requires a change in address, a Service Call Fee of $53.50 applies.

Wah bad suggestion, its like kicking his own ass.

Anyway to TS, when did you sign up the plan? Generally, there is a cooling period, usually 3-7 days after signed up. Check your terms under the termination clause. If there is then you have a greater chance to repudiate the agreement.

Not really. Its called a contract for obvious reasons and since TS wants to break and has a good argument over it, I'm sure he has a very convincing case. That's what courts are for, case justification, appeals and arguments.

Either way, TS asked for ideas, and I know contract is a legal document that can be disputed and broken in court of law.

if its worth it(lawyer/court/time etc fee vs 11 months penalty fee). then go ahead.

seriously, in the end, u will just go ahead and pay the 11 months or stick with it

You must put reasoning in proportion la. Dwelling on the nature for this case, don't you think its a bit too much to go to court. Perhaps TS may try small tribunal claim, since not much $ involved.

The way I see it, if there is no chance to repudiate the agreement try to settle for other forms of dispute resolution. See if Singtel can compromise by allowing you, to change your plan to other alternatives.

what did u sign up? super saver pack or what? bcos miotv itself has no min contract period. and snbb user has no minimum spend required... thus virtually free. if u r not snbb, then it's the content subscribe has a min contract. u can chose to switch content. like choose VOD channel. or DVR that allows you to record HD5 n free to air channel.

Are you sure ?
Per court session is $500/-
Per session per hour with a Big 4 law firm litigation lawyer is at least $300/-
Not to mention lawyer fee + admin fee + misc fee.............
Unless you are paying for TS
Talk is really easy.

For TS case, the MIO TV promo is pay 3months free 9 months. Pls note. Thats that recent promo.
