I'm using a 2wire gateway.

I used http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ to check if my port is open, and it shows that my ip is 220.255.7.227 (external). For some reason though http://www.whatismyip.com says that it's 121.6.30.164 instead, which is probably true because I can see that my port is open on 121.6.30.164 but not the external IP. My question is why am I shown to be using different IPs? What does an external IP mean?

Thanks for the reply! So which IP was the former showing? Gateway (router) or my computer's external IP, on the internet or on the LAN?

should be 1 of the exchange ip address, somehow sometimes this detectors can detect all the way until the users router end.

Oh alright thanks. :) But kinda scary though I thought that these kinda IP sites should all be the same because they're probably using the same scripts to find out my physical ip address?
