Dear fellow networking pros,

I'm trying to savage my previous Linksys WRT54G ver 4 router for routing with my 2Wire modem mainly to get the use for QOS prioritise.

Been trying with a lot of failures. I've been reading up the same thing over and over again.

Try making 2WIRE into bridge modem by changing the following :
- Connection Type to "Direct IP"
- username and password blank

under Advanced Configuration
- Turned off "Enable Routing"
saved and reboot! Is everything in order?

=================================================
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/8827/2wire2.jpg.

Stock firmware on linksys has been tried over and over again. I resorted to DD-WRT ver24 SP1 with no avail. settings look like this in the pic. Even for Linksys's stock firmware. ignore the PPP compression and Vlan tagging, it's just my desperate attempt in trying to see it those changes works.

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5779/wrt.jpg

cable plug from 2Wire's WAN port ---> WAN port of WRT54G.

Anything i did wrong over my settings? I keep suspecting my 2Wire wasn't on bridge mode. Can someone please shed some light for me. I'm getting crazy doing this for many hours.

Pretty please. Constructive comments please. :)

Firstly, your 2wire IS on bridge mode.
Secondly, follow Francis85's advice; poke into one of the LAN ports.

You may like the tomato firmware better if you're using a supported version of wrt54g.

guys! hmmmmmm its me again. using WRT firmware not good?

I've been experiencing D/C with wrt-dd firmware ver 24 sp1. happens when i'm hosting DOTA game twice in a row. kena called noob host! sigh~~~~ skype with friend and msn d/c-ed too. WRT no good ah? i reverted back to 2Wire for now. or should i just use stock linksys firmware better?

anyone on wrt-dd and has any comments on the QoS? i enabled it on my mac address, game port 6112-6119 for dota hosting for best effect. could the d/c be caused by it? :P

Give a try on Tomato. Maybe be better.

tomato is indeed better at qos. also note there is ddwrt v24sp2 liao, you're using noob version :P

also confirm which version of wrt54g router you're using. the 2mb models are known to hang because lack of memory and you try to be too hiong with qos.

BAD. guess i'm not good at setting QoS on tomato.

I configure the classification of my warcraft's TCP port 6112 to be of highest class priority for highest priority, the system keep classifying it as a lowest class. Try different combinations of source ip or destination ip of 6112 to make it high priority. QoS subsystem just wouldn't register it.

I gave up. might try back Linksys' stock original firmware for QoS by ethernet port(1,2,3 or 4)priority.

Hi, sorry to hi-jack your thread but i am sort of doing the same by turning the 2wire mio box into a modem only (bridge mode) as i try to connect my linksys WRT160N router to it but i am having exactly the same problem but when i troubleshoot with linksys, it seems that i am doing everything correctly but they have no idea why its not connecting.

I've checked the cable port, i am sure i plugged in correctly, its 2wire lan port to my linksys wan port

As for why its not connecting, i have no idea but the error which come up is that it is not able to get an IP address from PPPoE server. Anyone can help?

QoS is never a miracle. Setting it is hard, getting setting correct and hence it works is even hard. The achieved result can be dubious also.

should be just settings problems like password.

your routing turned off on 2Wire already?

Don't think its setting problem though because i am using the exact same password on my 2wire now. Yes, my routing offed at 2wire when i try.

Hi fellow kind hwzer out there...

I'm a noob with this Mio Plan 2 WIRE thing. Singtel tech just installed my 2wire+miotv as per setup below. I want to ask:

1. Can I add DIR655 as per dotted line without affecting the Mio STB?
2. How do I configue the 2wire to bridge mode?

Thank you

It accepts the password if i type it in and press enter......now hopefully the bridging works, wish me luck!
