I've being going around try to get an answer for the different router performance the recent d-link routers but have gotten the same few answers that they are roughly the same.

After some lucky finding, I've stumbled upon smallnetbuilder's website lawl. I realise they did thorough reviews by picking the routers apart.

I'll be comparing the DGL- 4300, DGL - 4500, DIR 615, DIR 655, DIR 825 and 855.
(I'm not testing other brands cause they do not support the qos i need)

Firstly their UBICOM processors.

DGL 4300 - Ubicom IP3023 @ 250mhz

DIR 615 - Ubicom IP5100U

DGL 4500 - Ubicom IP5160
DIR 655 - Ubicom IP5160U (A4 revisions have better routing performance).

DIR 825 - Ubicom IP5170U @ 350mhz
DIR 855 - Ubicom IP5170U @ 350mhz

Using the above charts, we can see that the newer ubicoms ip5170's beat the 60's by nearly 100mbps in terms of routing performance.

At price vs performance, the 825 is probably the champion. The only diff between the 825 and 855 is the oled display and long range throughput. otherwise it's performance is nearly identical the 855.

for me personally i dun require long range wireless n, im usually going at about 10m or less so ther 825 fits my bill.

hopefully it will be sold @ it fair :s12:

lol i dun really care the range lol a this point of time, mostly looking at the processor haha

well that being said u think dir 655 a4 or a new released 825 which would be a better buy?

Oops, I read wrongly. I mistakenly think its about wifi throughput. So sorry.
WAN-LAN is indeed determined by the CPU and the switch segment.

Firmware updates usually contains Ubicom's code on top of manufacturer's and hence usually gets better after further firmware revision :)

lolo but i notice that dir 655 and above got this wish thing and qos engine together will conflict?

need set 1 or both?

nope, its separate. wish applies only for wifi communication. while the main qos applies for all connection. In theory, wish deprioritize mass data transfer over wifi so voice and video which can be affected by delay, go first.
