Hi all laptop experts :P

I'm looking to getting a decent laptop (dun need really top ends one) for gaming this coming IT show.

As I dun have any experience getting a laptop b4, is there any suggestions of brands/models that I should look out for?

Budget hopefully doesn't exceeds 2k, game played is mainly World Of Warcraft and just some normal PC usage like web surfing and Photoshop....

Thanks for any assistance :)

Who wants to take bets about how many more hours it'd take before Jacky comes along and corrects him about the whole 'Gaming Laptop' bit? =:p

Hello. At 2k, u can get a decent laptop for gaming. As for brands, different people will stick by different brands they like. But generally, the mainstream ones are like HP, Dell, Acer, Asus, Gateway, NEC etc. More ex will be Sony, Fujitsu, Thinkpad and the likes. There are more niche brands also like Sager and Alienware.

For Win XP, I know of 2 ways to get it without paying extra.

1) Most netbooks comes with Win XP. But netbooks serves a slightly different category compared to laptops. So if a netbook fits ur criteria, which I doubt, u can consider it

2) Get a laptop with Vista Business or Vista Ultimate OS. Both OS gives u the right to "downgrade" to Win XP Pro. But u'll need to have a WinXP CD/DVD.
I wrote a brief info on this. Check it out post #7 at this thread

Last resort is perhaps to buy off the shelf if u really want XP badly. :)

It's just pathetic that people are looking to buy a Ferrari or a Lamborghini to fetch their 3-year-old brother to the nearby hawker centre.
