mIo TV 8mbps vs Starhub Cable TV

I signed up for the 8mbps SNBB and got the free 12 months mIo TV.
Which is supposed to have free 9 months free DVR Recording.
So.. I tried to record the free to air channel.. with no success
I later found out that the DVR recording was not activated..

THE QUESTION
If I call the hotline.
And activate it.
Do I need to pay?

And...

mIo TV STB (Set Up Box) has to be plugged into the Broadband.
Will it will use up my 8mbps bandwidth,
or
will singtel give extra bandwidth for the STB (Set Up Box)?

What about SH STB (Set Up Box)?

mIo TV has very little choice of channels when compared to Starhub Cable TV.

I want to subscribe for Starhub basic 3 groups + upsize.
Education, News, Lifestyle.
I forgot the price.
The question is.
Is there a rental fee for the STB (Set Up Box)
Can I buy a SH STB from some other sources and dont rent the SH STB?
Because the rental fee usually cost a few bombs over a long run.
And can be not very worth it :/

not too sure whether you have to pay for the activation of recording feature now, but during the time when I signed up it is chargeable.

SingTel will give extra bandwidth for the mioTV service so you do not have to share it among the TV and broadband connection.

for StarHub basic 3 groups is 24 dollars, upsize is 5 dollars. nowadays you no longer buy the STBs. they rent it out to you.

Standard Digital STB: $4
HD STB: $6
HubStation: $8
HubStation HD: $12

starhub going full digital this June, and afaik there are no unscrambled boxes supporting digital signals yet.

so better don't waste your money.

For MIO TV you need the bigger set with HDD then have DVR feature not the free 12 month version STB......
