Don't really like the Singtel 2Wire modem/ADSL routers that comes with the service, is it possible to buy other brands to use with their BB service? Eg, like a Linksys ADSL router etc?
Or we die-die must use 2Wire...? :s8:

depends on what service u r using. if its normal broadband, anything goes
for mio voice and miotv, stick with 2wire provided.

Broadband onie, no voice no TV. :-)
Anyone has a good brand/model to recommend?
Heard the new ones got BitTorrent built into the router, so
no need to even on PC. Now that is nice.

i am from damn old school... still using a brand called SpeedStream from like 7-8 years back... can it support current new Singnet plans like 8 mbps? Do I have to bother about what is ADSL/ADSL2?

Am using a Speedtouch ST536v6 modem in bridge mode with a Linksys WRT54G. I don't like the Speedtouch as when I power it off, it 'forgets' the bridge mode it was set in and resets automatically to router mode when I switch it back on.

I wouldn't want to leave it switched on 24/7 as I only use the Internet for about 3-4 hours per day.

Would like to see some recommendations for a DSL modem with wireless router here.

SS5260, SS5100? no. SS4100 theorectically yes, however no also.

The ST536 is not suppose to revert back to default setting, unless yours is a lemon set.
Or the method u opt to bridge it.

My Speedtouch was flashed to the latest version in the mirror.opensourcehub.com (v6.2.29.2). Set it to bridge mode using the setup wizard in the modem GUI, then connected my WRT54G to it. The residential CD didn't work for me, hence I preferred to flash the firmware instead.
