Hi All,

I was thinking of changing my broadband connection from 8mbps to 2 mbps. Will there be a lot of difference notice? I can see now that when i download stuff thru rapidshare, the fastest I can get is 1000kB meaning 1mbps. Will I feel laggy or slow if I downgrade from 8mbps to 2mbps??

Any expert can advise me? Thank you

no you shouldn't
the difference is in the upload speed

when you download, your computer sends acknowledgement packets to the server to inform the server that the downloaded packet was successful and there is no need for a resend...
these ack packets act as flow control... thus the faster your upload, the faster the download speed will be

there is no use to have 100mbps download when you only have 1mbps up...
if you are downloading from a single source, then it won't really matter but from multiple sources, upload speed is extremely important to sustain a good constant down speed

TS, 1000KB is not 1Mbps, it is 8Mbps. By downgrading to 2Mbps plan, your maximum download speed would go down to 250KB. Lower speed mean it take longer to download the same file and if you can tahan (the wait) than it would not made much a difference.

And as mentioned by others, lower speed plan mean lower upload speed. If you're someone who upload a lot then you might want to reconsider.

Have de.
Go http://utilities.starhub.com see which plan is assigned. If still Express, call them.

Though, u have to apply tweaks first to help them waste b/w
