Recently after updating the windows software, my laptop is very lag and keeps displaying 100%CPU Usage in the task manager. Are there any problems with the updates or my computer is just infested with spyware. My asus laptop is less than a year, and the specs are duo P8600 and 3gb ram. Running on window vista premium.
Any solution to the problem will b greatly appreciated.

There are multiple svchost.exe running in the background, most are require to run the system but some viruses or trojans mask themself using svchost.exe. In oder to find out the which svchost is legit, which is not, you need Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) to verify which legit and which is not.
After you launched PE, rightclick on the non-legit svchost.exe then select "properties", click the "string" tab to see which www, http or ftp it's connecting to, if it's not something you expect from installed software, kill the process or you can use "search online" to learn more about the process before you kill it.

commach way is probably the more correct way. i usually only check path & verified signer (watever that means, but verified doesn't mean cfm legit):
