I'm recently bought an LG110 netbook, with 3G inside at the IT show.

There's something wrong with my connection, after about 5 - 10 mins of surfing using Singtel broadband, both my firefox and my internet explorer never loads any webpage at all.

I tried to ping yahoo.com and it replied back. Did a tracert and found out this..

Tracing route to google.com [209.85.171.100]

Trace complete.

If you look at line 1, its timed out. meaning its from my PC within which i can't resolve.

Here's how the netbook works.

The program needed to run the 3G software is Wireless manager(local network connection 6). Once its connected, its linked to IP manager, where the Manager will sort out the connection on which one to use, say if my Lan is connected, my internet will run on LAN. If my Wireless manager(singtel) is connected, then it will run on Local Network Connection 6. The thing is, i don't have any firewall installed and i disabled Windows Firewall.

I checked both my internet explorer and Firefox internet settings, and its not running on any proxy at all. Thus, currently, I'm LOST. Anyway faced the same problem and managed to solve it?

first hope for traceroue is the gateway IP, router or your ISP. does it matter if request timeout?

I did ipconfig /all and i have an IP address attached to my Local Area Network 6 which is why i can ping and tracert google.com

But the weird thing is after surfing on mozilla or IE for about 5 mins, any page won't just load. I clicked refresh but it just won't load.

BTW, i have reinstalled firefox and IE, updated ones, but the problem still persists. Anyway, when it works, because loading a page, it goes through this IP address

172.31.254.244

Which is certainly not my IP address. My IP address starts at 112.199.***.***. Any idea which IP address this belongs to, its like some kind of a proxy which i did not set on both my IE and FF.

If my connection can't get past the first one, either gateway IP, Router or my ISP, how does it connect to the internet then? It does matters right? I'm not too sure, my knowledge is limited. Hope to find someone out there who's able to share their knowledge with me.

Yes, I had the same problem with M1 Broadband.

Intermittently when surfing, the bottom status bar of the browser will show
"waiting for 172.31.254.244....."
(or 172.31.254.241/ 172.31.254.242/ 172.31.254.243)
and wait forever!

This block of ips "172.31.x.x" are reserved for internal organization use,
so I suspect is one of the 4 proxy/gateway server that M1 is using to bridge from their mobile bb network to the Internet.

The problems seem to be these M1 servers are constantly overloaded,
and thus our browser request has to wait in queue....
To add to the problem, the m1 servers might have time out and drop the request from the queue
and but did not ack the browser, which is still waiting.....

Please call M1 and feedback on their seemingly GLARING internal problems,
they need to run more of these servers for load-balancing and increase their RAM and improve their queuing software!!

I not expert or anything but maybe you could try this for your browser ? Got this from another sites so maybe can work for you ?

Under tools options.
In your browser setting, (or browser preferences), go to network connection settings.
Select Manual proxy configuration.
Set the http proxy to: proxy.singnet.com.sg
and change the port to: 8080

That is for singnet , no idea for M1.
