Hi, this thread is written with respect to the other thread "Does Slow Internet Connection Jams Activities in Windows". I'm thinking of signing up Mobile Boardband as I just re-contracted my starhub last December. One question is.....does Mobile Boardband works indoor? I need a stable connection for my trading activity. The slow connection is killing me. Pls help.

Depends on how deep the indoor location, usually no problem if the indoor location is at the circumference of the building and not deep in the dungeon. Speed wise.... no comment.

so long you have a signal, you will have the Mobile BB. Your 3G handphone signal detection should be your initial gauge. But speed will be another matter.

Mobile broadband using 3G connection, as long you are able to make calls using your mobile phone and the signal strength is there, there should be a problem. The connection speeds varies for the 3 Telcos.

I still see the slowness not being the ISP's fault. Try relooking into that thread, and test with what liangtam suggested in there - switch off your modem, connect it directly to your PC, on and see if the speed is better than when using wireless.
If it is better, then you should look into further securing/configuring your wireless network.

Based on my experience, mobile broadband is good for failover and backup. In terms of speed and reliality. Wired or WIFI connection offer better speed and reliability. If you are going for trading activity, think again.
I have seen ppl getting dedicated bloomberg or reuters connection directly into their house, the price feed and timing is impt and cannot afford any delay.
Suggest you borrow from your friends and test out first before commit to the plan.

it cannot serve as a full backup if the fixed infra dies anyway. cos the service will first be jammed with calls.

it depends on whether they use office landline or handphone to call with regard to the service if the line is down and also the capacity of equipment from Telco that support that proximity if ppl using handphone to call in.
