Hi,
i have a WRT54G router with the motorola modem which is from starhub.
My desktop is connecting to the internet through wireless connection.
My wireless dongle seems faulty because i encounter frequent signal loss.
Is it possible to change from wireless to wired with my router and modem?
If possible, how?
Mind showing me a guide on it?
Thanks in advance.

If your desktop is the only element that need the internet connectivity, u can simply
Motorola Modem ---LanCable---> Desktop
If you have other appliances that will require the wireless connectivity,
Motorola Modem ---> Router ---LanCable---> Desktop

Power cycle both your modem and your router.
Turn off both modem and router for 2 mins.
Turn on modem and wait till it's online.
Turn on router.
Check for internet access.
If you're unable to get an internet access there's something wrong between the modem and the router.
There's no configuration for maxonline users. However you need to power cycle to ensure that your router gets the necessary information for you to connect to the internet.

There's no setup needed to be done to change from a wireless connection to an Ethernet connection.
Just make sure your wireless connection is disabled, then connect your computer to the router through an Ethernet cable.

I can't seems to get a internet connection through the cables.
I tried it on my laptop and all i get is a local connection.
I have also tried the power cycle, it seems like my computers are only getting a local connection thru the cable.
Any idea what is wrong?

are you getting the correct network config from the router?
try doing ipconfig /all in command prompt to find out..
it may be your wired connection is previously configured as static IP? check that.

You mean Local Area Connection? That's the thing that shows you are connected through Ethernet...
