Hi guys, i'm currently a subscriber of the max online 12mbps plan and i'm pretty annoyed by the recent latency issues in world of warcraft.. ever since saturday night i've encountered an big jump in my latency from the usual 400-500+ ms to around a constant 1500+ ms, i'd do fine in normal 5 man instances but when it comes to raiding i always get slapped back to the login screen with the message "you've been disconnected from the server" .. This is really frustrating and i'm sure fellow WOW'ers would understand my pain :(.. I've tried asking some of my local guild mates if they're having any similar issues but it turns out im the only guy with this problem.. Is there anyone here who's experiencing the same thing lately?

I've also done few trace route tests on various realms and most of the results are pretty similar, can anyone tell me if these are normal?

go download a program called pingplotter, and do a tcp port 3724 traceroute to the WOW servers.

or even better, download wireshark to sniff your WOW traffic when you are lagging and also when you are not lagging.

submit both to SH for further analysis.

Another starfug WOW user here. No point lah. Starfug is definitely bad for WOWing. I give up liao. I'm a MOL - Ultimate user btw. I have subscribed to Singnet 8MB plan in Feb 2009 for WOWing. Much better ping rates, and so far no disconnection. Once my stupid Starfug contracts are up in Aug 09, I'm definitely terminating. (mobile phone, bbom and mol)

And yeah, all the suffering Starfug users here can have my "100MB" bandwidth once my contract is up. :s13:

singnet and starhub users all kpkb all lag, must be warcraft server problem?

Why are you all beating around the bush? This is limitation by technology. We don't have the optical fibre connection yet compared to Korea and Japan. We have yet to catch up with their advancement.

How to beat speed of light limit then?

A submarine cable is fiber based, if you assume that because its fiber, the distance of it will still result in negligible latency across long distance range, then you're really wrong.

Besides, Blizzard is the game producer and the ONLY provider of WoW, if their service became crappy by maintaining lousy connection, servers etc. Suckers will still fall for it, no?

It is a matter of getting shorter routes (lower latency, there is a base limit of ) and more well-maintained routes (less packet loss). Too bad no local residential ISPs likes to crater to this premium range of service.

probably not worth the time and effort. as with other consumer items, money speaks so get a commercial link if that is most important. otherwise, there's always hwz for moaning :D

There is still the physical limit mah.
If you notice, none of the ISP on biz offering (even), provides too-crazily-low-latency-for-sale service. Its not doable at the point in time.
You also have to consider if the server is hosted at a place which is well connected or not.

same.
800 ping on off-peak hour (meaning 3am in the bloody morning).
3-10k ping during raid hours.

this is dumb.

same lor...i also lagging. Playing on Kilrogg n raid during server off-peak times. Connection elsewhere is ok but during raid can DC within 12 sec of boss encounter and usually happen frm 9.30 onwards. Liddat cant even raid lor. Seems it started when ulduar released for me.
