How do i set up wireless at home?

Hi guys. My situation here is as such. My home PC is connected to my router via a cable. So I do not use wireless internet at home at all. Right now I just bought a laptop. So how do i go about setting up the wireless?

1) Router has wireless capability? Yes skip step (2)
2) Throw your old router, then buy new one
