i've been trying recently to uninstall my linksys wrt54g wireless router cause i dun need it anymore. i unplugged the modem and i plugged in the cable from my broadband modem directly into my com, but theres no connection at all. But when i plug it back into my wireless router, i get a connection.

i've read up several areas on how to uninstall one, but theres alot of different methods and i dun know which to try.

Anyone has a tested and proven method on doing this?

Thanks in advance

i didnt do anything to my router actually. its just plug and play.

i plug my router in to my com and it just works. But if i were to plug it out and reconnect my cable modem straight to my computer, it doesnt receive a connection...

Check under Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is set to :Obtain an IP address automatically.

Then shut down the cable modem and the PC. Restart modem untail all light are stable then ON the PC.

restart your cable modem..
make sure your ip address is on auto dhcp

if still doesn't work, then you'll have to change your pc mac address to that of the router. or wait about a week and i think it should be fine

Just turn off and wait 2 mins and then connect your computer to the modem.
Then turn it on.

Only then will the modem connect you to the internet.

You must repeat the same procedure when changing back to your router.

The whole purpose to for the modem to recognise a new device and issue it a corresponding IP address to connect to the internet.
