We brought a second hand HP 4250N printer and a jetdirect 500.
From the printout of jetdirect 500 configuration, we obtained the old IP address of the jetdirect. How do we configure a new IP address of the jetdirect so as to set up 4250N printer as a network printer

From the printer, press the Menu button > Go to CONFIGURE DEVICE (Arrow Down button to scroll, and press the Green (tick) button to select) > I/O > EIO 1 (or 2) JETDIRECT MENU > TCP/IP.

Actually I was also wondering, but well, who knows perhaps the original one might be spoiled, or TS actually mixed up that it's without N.

4250N has built in network .. why you need a jetdirect?

Once you plug in teh network cable, your printer should be able to grab an assigned IP address from your DHCP server.

Print out the config page from printer and you shoudl be able to see the ip address.

use that IP address to access the printer's GUI from your PC via website

Once you plug in teh network cable, your printer should be able to grab an assigned IP address from your DHCP server.

This is true only if the JetDirect card has been set with DHCP enabled.

Most of the time, such network printers (bearing in mind it's 2nd hand and likely bought from another company) would likely had been set with Static IP Address. Therefore, there's a need to override the previous setting to suit the current network, which is what TS wants to achieve.

Try following the steps I had already given.

cannot just set the printer setting to factory default? :s42:
