Need help in configuring cisco 877 router (singtel)

i have already configured the wan
select encapsulation : RFC 1483 Routing(AAL5SNAP)
check VPI :8 VCI: 35
IP Address : (WAN Customer IP)
Subnetmask : 255.255.255.252 (as per provided by ISP)

but how to configure the LAN???

i go into sdm to edit vlan1 to assign IP address: 11x.xxx.180.63
Subnetmask: 255.255.255.240
but it says "invalid ip and subnet mask"

singtel gave me this ip range
Given range: 11x.xxx.180.48 to 63
Subnetmask: 255.255.255.240

i haven't plug in the dsl modem line yet, will it affect this error?
any butties can help???

11x.xxx.180.63 is a the broadcast IP address, you can't use. 11x.xxx.180.48 (network IP) you can't use as well. You can assign from .49 to .62.


Next question: Why would you want to assign public IP to your LAN? You can assign private IP to the LAN and perform NAT to public IP so you can utilise the .48 and .63 IP address.

I think singtel gave him a pool fixed IP addresses. But until he tells us what he wants to do with them we can't help :(

And btw, you using business line? ciscos are only issued to SMEs for biz lines
