Hi All,
Starhub maxonline plan........ and the bandwidth you get?
According to the Help Desk
Maxonline Surflite up to 2mbps
Maxonline Express up to 8mbps
Maxonline Premium up to 12mbps
Maxonline Ultimate up to 100mbps
In summary if you are in surflite you can get 0-2mbps ( 0mbps no web access dude :( ), Express 2 to 8mbps etc... for Ultimate you may get 12 mbps and its normal.
Mine drop to 2.9mbps on Express and the help desk says its normal and within range.
Good Luck..................... Your comment...

It's not incremental, you aren't doing some Maths patterns here.
Every of those will start from 0 onwards, you can be on Ultimate and get only 2Mbps.
And for Ultimate you will not necessary get 12mbps everytime.

The speed they published are 'best effort' speed. There are many factors involved here. The speed you will get is determined by the slowest link in your network.
Firstly, from your own end, starhub broadband is a 'shared' network. If less of your neighbours uses it, the more of the green pipe you get. Secondly, the speed usually refers to local traffic as international traffic would be determined by the speed of the optic fibre cables (which is shared by many people) from Singapore to the country of the site you are surfing to and the nodes in between. If the site has a slow connection or is crowded, it can further degrade the performance.
Usually, you will feel the faster speed when you do simultaneous downloads from several sites as opposed to one site.

He bandwidth tested using speednet and starhub util shows i have about 1.x(speednet)-5mbps, starhub 2.9mbps-6 yesterday. To be fair i go to local site only. Funny thing it always happens in the late evening 11pm up.

What i was told is that if you have example ultimate your min should not be less then 12mbps (up to 100mbps) according to the customer support. You may not always get 12mbps but at least there must be certain percentage of QOS rite.

this holds true for singnet as well
but for singnet you are only dedicated until the line reaches your nearest base station

actually the difference is not QOS but with the config file in your modem
the config file determines the upload/download capacity
last time it was possible to uncap your modem by changing the default values... and there was no difference between the priceplans... nowadays it is still possible to uncap, but simply subscribing to MOL ultimate is easier

Those speeds are only valid for local traffic, everything out of SG is best-effort delivery.

It really depends on the other party. If you are connected to a slow server you won't hit the minimum speed claimed by those people up there.
