Hi,
2Wire modem wireless range is not very good :(, every time when i go to my master bed room signal like very bad/weak and got disconnection very frequent.
I never see any place in modem where i can put signal gain antenna, any suggestion?

Bro ppl are talking about Homeplug, i don't think i am going to buy it.
I will do some research to see if can find any link to boost signals. My brother bought a big antenna in states and was able to get internet from his home while sitting in park outside his home :) (of-course he was not using expensive 2wire modem which cost 400$ but he was using <50$ wireless router and 5$ high gain antenna).

Yes, I have the same thot. But it seems like doesn't attach any external antenna which we can change to high gain type. May be some experts can give some alternative soultion.:)

I used to have problem with 2WIRE wireless modem/router for my network. Was using the one given (or rather paid for it) by Singnet. Got occasional disconnection and signal was pretty weak. I thought it was cos of the walls blocking/weakening the signal as it is located quite a distance away.
Then again one day it broke down. So I bought a new modem/router (I think it's Asus) and was given a free high gain antenna.
Have no problem since then.
My suspicion is that 2wire is not that good afterall.

Thank you but i bought digital voice with this bundle (in other words it is MIO plan), which require 2wire modem (that sucks).
I am thinking to do DIY a high gain antenna in this box.

You can try increasing the power setting from 6 to the actual maximum of 10.
I discussed about this before in this thread (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2208848). The method to "unlock" is at the 4th page.
I increased the power setting but I see no obvious difference, but that may be due to my apartment size (I live in an Exec.).
Another solution is to try different locations for the 2WIRE. Try to "centralise" it as far as possible.
The 2WIRE really isn't that strong in wireless strength if your apartment is quite big and you got walls blocking the signals. If you really want to increase the strength I would advise you get a separate wireless router and use the 2WIRE in bridged mode.

2wire power rating at 6 is already quite strong. i have a strong feeling there are many 2wire within your neighborhood and all using the same channel. you may use network stumbler or other similar tools to determine is this true.

Me and my wife was sitting in the living at very close range with the 2wire box.
The wireless connection keep dropping.

I think there are only 1 or 2 more connections in vicinity.
But funny thing is my free Starhub connection can be used anyware coz i am using DLink router =:p and somemore Dlink router is placed lower than 2Wire modem.
Singtel should have known about shi.ti problem but it is amzazing that they didn't change device or ask 2Wire to add a bloody extra anntena.

I don't think by changing channels or power it is going to have any effect on bars.
I change power to 10 and changed channel from 1 to 11 but seems no impact.

Linksys consistently giving 5 bars whereas 2wire pathetic only 2. I am sitting in master bedroom and all door are open, if i am going to close study room door there will be 1 bar only :(.
Do anyone knows how to open MIO box? There are not screws but i think some catches only. I want to wield Antenna myself.

@MrJacky (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/member.php?u=267035), Thanks for your guide but seems my phone line is dead since i did setup yesterday.
Anyway Singtel ppl were not able to resolve problem via remote assistance so they are coming down this Friday to have a look where is the problem.

wow, that's nice. just "open" it out with a flat head screw. - screw-less design.
2wire comes with integrated wireless antenna... thus - singtel always get the cheapest things in e market and sell it at a super-high price what... u can't blame them or they will lose their "billion-share" hahas.
