Just to share that SH called me about their SCV recontract promo giving FOC cable modem and 2Mbps for 1.5 yrs FOC subscription together with FOC landline for 1yr for unlimited incoming/outgoing calls.
I think 2Mbps shared choked pipe will be damn slow but for kids should be ok.
Good deal?

Offically, the Maxonline Surflite 2mbps plan cost $29.96/mth but current members get it at $26.96/mth.
There is a current promo which offers it for $26.96/mth for existing members, you will get the free cable modem, the Digital Voice line, a choice of the D-link Wireless Router DIR-615 or $88 Hubber Bonus total (which is $8 off the regular price over the next 11 months). You need to sign up for the 2 year contract for this.
I believe the OP was offered the offer through a special promotion. Probably the only way may be to wait for them to handpick and call you.

Yes. Free cable modem, free internet subscription and free land-line calls(in/out) for 1yr and 1.5 yrs respectively (...or the other way round, cant remember but pretty sure abt the FOC period)
The recontract period is for 12-mths only

criteria is that one must be paying more than $38.52 for cable tv, then addon this 2mbp plan for $26.96 = $65.48 for cable tv, 2mbp bb and "free land line"
this recontract promo sounds worst than the current 59.92 home hubbing pack promo (8mbps plan, cable tv and free land line which will cost 59.92+8.56(monthly rental) after the first 3 months.
weird

now I'm abit blur.. so meaning to say which is the best promo now?
btw, possible for the 2mb to upgrade to 8mb?
I use 8mb already abit slow for certain sites, i cant imagine using a 2mb now if i'm to get the promo

Haha... The 2 mbps promo is for recontract the criterias all listed. It cannot be upgraded to 8mbps. The 8mbps promo is only for new customers... HAHA... Thats why i seperated the posts.:s13:
So depending on which promo u prefer lo. 2mbps is for recon, you continue for 1 yr u get the stuffs. For 8mbps you have to subscribe to a new package lo... listed below too...
CHEERS!!!:)
would you be able to comment or help inquire if starhub might be changing upstream providers or perhaps improving upstream bandwidths that might improve youtube performance? currently, it is kinda poor when compared directly to singnet and youtube content are interesting to most consumers.
i'm sure positive comments from you may improve sign up chances for your promos. looking forward to your reply about your promos and youtube performance. :)

Mm... About that, Firstly, i am just a Starhub Promoter... Haha...:s13: Cant do much to change anything... However, do understand that both ISP have their benefits la...
This implies you are a representative of Starhub. Thus I'm pretty sure as a sales person Starhub, you may take such feedback, specifically bandwidth and route performance to google's Youtube, directly to your manager and to engineering.
After all, such feedback affect your sales and sales, aka cash speaks very loud in an organization. I'm asking about your organization's upstream bandwidth and connection, not the last mile cable/dsl. I'm sure you can do better than other than just saying cannot and don't care?
Otherwise to be blunt, this thread sounds like: "I'm going to make commission from you but I don't really care that performance is so bad compared to Singtel and too bad you're going to be stuck with it for the contract period"

Mm... About that, Firstly, i am just a Starhub Promoter... Haha...:s13: Cant do much to change anything... However, do understand that both ISP have their benefits la...
For Starhub, our internet runs via cable modems regulated by bandwidths and the no. of users in the zone which Starhub provided u with.
For Singnet, it runs via ADSL modems which runs at a constant speed directly to ur house.
Thus, at peak periods, SH maybe be slower a little however, do notice the high speeds on weekdays which lesser people are using... I do not see any difference if i jump ship to singtel... Haha...:s13: Lets say downloading, SH will definitely be so much faster if you were to do in after midnight leaving the com on...:s13:
Depends on your preference actually.
BTW( I find this a good deal )
Cable TV (50% Heartland promo)
- $19.26/month (gst and box rental inclusive)
- 1yr contract
- 3 basic groups + VV drama(CH 55)/TVBJ(CH 48)
- Star Movies(FOC 6mths)
CHEERS!!!:)
:s13: i'm a ex-starhub MOL subscriber for dunno how many shiat years until March i totally give up on MOL and hop onto Singnet and i'm getting 1MB/sec during DDL from iTunes & bukit timah hill on peak hrs.
And oh ya, the speed is not MAYBE a little slower. its DEFINETELY WAY SLOWER than you can imagine. Lets compare the streaming speed on singnet and starhub. Singnet will beat SH flat.
I'm neither a Singnet fan nor an anti-Starhub, i based on true experience and facts.
and who da hell uses internet @ 3am in the morning and early mornings during weekdays. If u r are doing tat juz bcoz u wan to enjoy fast internet speed on starhub.. tats very sad.

Hi,
I'm thinking of getting this PROMOTION Plan:
https://secure.starhub.com/shop/jfn?entry=PROMODETAIL&promotionId=70263
http://www.starhub.com/StarHub/SF/online/promotions/2009/mol70263_135x50_03.jpg
MaxOnline Surflite (24 mths contract)
$18.40/month for first 11 months
$26.96/month for remaining 13 months
In the small print it says:
Valid with a 24-month contract. ^Applicable for the first 11 months for NEW MaxOnline sign-ups only.
Price reflected is after 10% off and the $88 Hubber Bonus discount ($8 discount over 11 months). Thereafter, $26.96 applies for the next 13 months. * Free cable modem will be issued instead if customers choose not to sign up for Digital Voice Home.
For residential customers only. ## Valid till 31 December 2010. Not applicable to customers on Digital Voice contract. A voice-enabled cable modem or integrated access device is required.
If I am a current non-contract max-online customer, and I terminate my subscription, then a few days later I apply for this promo, will I be considered as a NEW MaxOnline sign-up ?
And what is this 10% off ?
Also, I'm not in this Hubber thing, what will the final price be instead of the $18.40/month ?

This is my first post in here.
I am a hubber before. Just on last sunday, i had cancelled my cablevision, feeling cheated.
The set had gave me lots of problem for the last 2 years. Then a few month before returning to them, i totally just put it aside. Then a month before returning them, i made a call to them to ask if i need to return the set, they said must. On the day of returning the set, the lady there said dont need to return. i am very angry for the time and all the trouble to go down there. So i told the lady what the philipine lady on the phone ask me to return. She said she will check and give me an answer. The next day, the lady called me that their philipine lady in the phone never told me to return the set. Really piss off, i really wonder their words can be belived???
The the speed of the maxonline is slow until dont know what to say, call them afew time, they just give me there is nothing they can do. So no choice, had to wait until end of contact to jump ship.
I dont use my HP much, but my bill can go up to $300++ over thousand over mins used. When i call to ask them, they give me a if you dont pay it you go to count. No choice lan lan pay it.
Guys out there, pls think before joining SH. Sorry ah, my english no good.

they should give old customer good offer also leh, every time say NEW SIGN UP only... its damn irritating... so what they got give reward points.. comon lar 1 point equal one 1 dollar pay to them, and 1600 is about can claim 50 bucks worth of offset of the plan... that's not even 5% return..
they SHOULD make recontract and new sign up and give the same freebies..

I just recontracted with Starhub too. Free CableTV for 2 years. Discounted Internet and Mobile subscriptions. Same MaxOnline Express pricing. Free 3000 Rewards Points. I have an existing balance of 1000++ points. Every 2000 points give me a free month of Internet. Not bad.
