Hi all,

I am not from an enterprise and have my own POP / IMAP mail service via my web host. I currently am with M1, without mobile broadband plan, and I have another phone running Singtel Broadband on Mobile card, which I unplug to use with the Huawei 3G modem for surfing.

Total bills are around $100 a month and my M1 contract is about to expire so I can jump to another Telco.

I am considering getting a Blackberry since 80% of my usage on the go is emailing and I hardly use the 3G modem since most places have wireless@sg, unless signal or connection is bad, then I will unplug out the simm and use it on the modem.

I use about 500mb-1gb data a month on the BBOM.

So I have reviewed the 3 Telcos:

I have eliminated M1 as the basic plan is only 4mb and next plan is unlimited.

And seems like Starhub one has the best deal, with $19.90 1GB and cap of $36.38 (meaning unlimited) per month.

So my questions are:

1. Is anyone with Starhub BB service? How is it?

2. Do they allow internet tethering so that I can use bluetooth or usb cable to connect to my notebook to surf the net and finally,

3. What is the up/down speed via this method? I'm getting 1mbps up / 256k down on my BBOM right now.

Many thanks.

Hahah M1 has the cheapest Blackberry data plan for 1GB leh..

It's the Blackberry Plus plan at $16.05 for 1GB and cap of $39.50

As M1 is Vodafone partner, M1 is selling Blackberry Storm a lot cheaper than other telcos. Selling @ $468 compared to $698 for other telcos for the $25.68 plan..

thanks, i didn't see that page.

The TOC is kinda tricky, meaning if I tether, will need to ensure it is connected via BB APN.

Terms and Conditions:
Blackberry Plus VAS is available only as a VAS and not a plan. It is available for upgrades and new sign-ups. The free 1 GB local data bundle in Blackberry Plus VAS is for free access to emails and Internet surfing via Blackberry APN and WAP services via the Miworld APN . Bill cap for these 2 APNs is $39.59 per month. Data usage via the Sunsurf SS APN is not part of the free 1GB bundle but is chargeable.

interesting TOC there. So would it be possible to tether using the BB APN?

If you are using BB most of the time, shouldnt be a need to use sunsurf APN

The problem lies when you are or want to use other non-BB phones like iPhone, Nokia, etc... then have to subscribe to both BB Plus VAS and SunSurf VAS. Expensive and somewhat redundant.
