Depends on your layout of your house.
I don't dare to say which brand is the best :)
The "best" brand is usually not in the market, for industrial use only.
i think depend what you requirement man, generally all router and modem are about the same.
Not much diff bah.

Maybe there are best combos out there. But personally, it comes down to which brand do you trust more. I would say most are about the same, for home use. I prefer linksys products. I used to use netgear, they are great too. I don't understand if you are looking for a single product to do both modem and router job, i think some times it's better to have things separated; individually. If so, get a 10mbps capable modem, and get a router. Do you need wireless N draft for range and speed? Get a router that support that if you do. else get a wireless G will do. Very simple.
Thanks.

Fiber-to-the-Home or shortname FTTH, is not a modem. It is the name of the technology which delivers very high-speed broadband internet to your home. It uses Fiber Optic cables, instead of phone lines (ADSL - Singnet) or Coaxial cables (DOCSIS - Starhub).
You cannot use ADSL modems on a DOCSIS network.
FTTH technology is currently being rolled out by the Singapore Government under IDA.
It is called the Next Gen National Broadband Network.

Speed will be 1Gbps (Gigabits per second) or more. :D
You WILL need new hardware in order to use FTTH. This means a new modem. And most likely a new router too (if the router can't handle the speed) :s13:
In the meantime, I would recommend getting Broadband-over-Mobile instead. No need to get stuck on a desktop. You can unplug the modem from your desktop and plug it into your laptop and bring it anywhere! Works just like a mobilephone, except its for data connection only.

mobile bb service? Steer clear of it unless your expectation is right. Everyone hogging it day and night.
Obviously, fixed bb service cannot be replaced.
