Last weekend i went to Suntec for the Blackberry Storm roadshow (http://gpoovan.blogspot.com/2009/05/life-on-blackberry-road-show-singapore.html). But they only had like 2 live sets.. so I couldn't really test out most of the feature with long queue.

Why do I need a blackberry?

I was using a friend's blackberry pearl and i really like the feel and how it works? and I'm a web 2.0 junkie to those aps on storm would come in handy. staying connected to my emails would be a plus.

Iphone was my first choice, cuz I use mac.. less compatibility issue.
But now I'm contemplating with storm in the pictures.
or do i wait for Palm pre.

Please help.. share your thoughts and comments.

thanks :s11:

1st off... Storm and iPhone touch screen interface is totally different.

if you are a mac user, you will have issues with the desktop manager that comes with blackberry. They are certified for Windows OS. RIM has no love for Mac OS.:s8:

You may need to install bootcamp to run the desktop mamanger software though i heard that some peeps have issues with the DM running in windows environment under Mac OS.

thanks kenny for the advice.
I hate the whole bootcamp thingy. So its not going to be easy like plug and
play.. and another big issue not wifi enabled..

Storm V2 will have that wifi and revised touchscreen but it may only be due in Sept 2009 which translate to end of the year for the singapore market.

I reckon you the Storm, personally, I'm using a bold, even though on a PC platform, never did I sync with my system.

Contacts are Google Sync, using bb calender as default, update via wifi or data at times with application all down via sets.

for multimedia, transfer via flash drive. Not doubts that there are new version of the OS, so far I did not update because the present version serve me well, so why update to beta?

I also realize after talking to some people oversea, storm are more popular then iphone.......

The downside of not using DM is the backup of your BB sets. Some peeps rely on DM to do backup of their BB set incase their set crash. I keep a recent copy of my bold backup..

Yeah, i also use google sync for contacts and calendar. Great software that support wide range of hp's OSes

iphone craziness is generally in the US.

other countries have a more generic mix.

because hp in US quite restricted, mainly due to the network they use. Just like how they are going gaga over the Palm Pre, and the rest of the world doesn't really care about it for now.

I actually do like the screen the clickable creates the feel that your gadget is responding to you.
A phone with No wifi is plainly impossible in this era..
i've used the google calenders before when i use to travel a lot.
now everything is on my Mac.. iCal.

I'm going to hang on for a while then rushing out to get bb storm

thanks for all your reply.

I tried the Storm once at the airport, couldnt get used to the typing on the keyboard. I gave up. I thought i try it again at starhub and this time spent over 40min playing with it. Still couldnt get the typing correct. For efficiency you are best to get a Blackberry Javelin or Bold or wait to a revision to the storm.
