i know the latter is faster, but would i feel the difference if i were to surf local forums, news sites, youtube, online (streaming) trading such as KE trading portals ????
there are only 2 users in the house...
unsure if i should save the $15/mth by downgrading...
hope you guys can share some insights :)
thanks

In my experience, you will get like max 230-ish kBs download, provided that your seed quality is good (normally you find for popular download like linux isos) and the "traffic" condition is congested

after bad experience with SH-MOL 8Mbps over 7+ yrs, I jumped ship to SN-10Mps and never looked back. On MOL, I couldnt even watch YT....
Then, 2 weeks back, I was given 1yr FOC SH-2Mbps promo. I was a little apprehensive cos with a miserable 2Mbps connection, I was expecting the worst.
I wired it to my kid's PC and my jaw dropped. Watching YT was lag-free and internet response was impressive.
I dont know what went wrong but no complaints so far....

how is it compares to SNBB 3Mbps? will there be a significant diff?
at the end, it will be Starhub vs SNBB for consistent speed again:D

I downgraded my MOLE to MOLL. that savings are good.
I have 2 hubstations. free 1MBPs. so the 2MB helps me do intense work. However, I got this free by signing up the package for CableTV bundle.
Performance wise, no difference.
I recommend that you try it, and if you feel the speed drop, try upgrading again. there is a costs, but it does save money when you downgrade over time. S$15 can get your a HBO channel. ^^

Previously, I was on MOL Premium 12mbps. Now, I am using the free MOL Surflite 2mbps. Reason that I downgraded was, my premium has been underused, basically, I don't need that high speed. Normally, I do some torrent, surf website, play game like dota, youtube, etc.
Torrent - For 2mbps, the highest I hit was around 220 kbs++
Surfing website, Not much difference, still around the same. But 1 thing still remains the same is the peak hour period ( 1900 - 0000 hours) Very slow during this time. ._. Other than that, it's ok.
Game - Never played much games any more. Dota was ok, same as before.
Youtube - Premium was much faster, but surflite was ok, not that bad, good enough for me.
I save a lot every month after downgrading from Premium to Surflite - About $40+? :D
My package comes with CTV, Surflite, Digital Voice, Hubstation - Pay close to $50+ :)
Had it not for the hub club discounts for my family mobile post paid subscriptions, about $40 discount. I would have used the Hubstation free 1 mbps internet. :s13:
I have been with Starhub for close to 10 years, never had any major problems before, so far so good for me. I am staying with them for good. =:p
