just now just downloading 3 files at the same time from mediafire and ping to 222.165.16.1 reach 800ms
so cannot surf at all when downloading.
not running any p2p software in the background
load up tcpview and don't see any wierd connections to any where too

Try connecting directly to the modem (without router)

anyone from sengkangm while downloading from megaupload/mediafire
can do a ping to a local website?
Same for me, both downloads of around 100mb from either Megaupload or Mediafire should take around 10mins or less. Right now Megaupload is taking 2hr ++ and Mediafire 1hr ++ :P
A couple of days ago, speed was ok, currently quite bad, even internet keeps disconnecting after sometime which is very rare for me until this Submarine cable problem in Taiwan.
Hope that helps.
I surf all oversea website slow.
Anyone experience surfing oversea website slow?I called Starhub but do a test, say nothing wrong with modem and connection. But I did a traceroute, those local website is ok.But oversea website very high packet loss after starhub's IP address.
I am staying at Jalan Bahagia.Near Balester.

i also have this problem.
When running speedtest.net, it shows download speed only 0.6Mbps on Singapore site and upload speed is 1.0Mbps. I am using maxonline premium.
Call Starhub and run starhub's bandwidth test shows around 25Mbps.

my problem is when downloading from megaupload/mediafire during certain time (eg peak period) others people connected to the router can't surf at all cause the ping to ANY website increase to 2000-3000ms during downloading
i think they throttle megaupload/mediafire in certain time but somehow make the ping rise sky high.

Hi, hi having same problem using Singnet ADSL, when downloading speed is high especially bittorrent downloading, the ping to any ip will be sky high. not only from my own pc, but also other pcs sharing the bandwidth. after I replace the singnet 2wire router with other 3rd party router with ADSL2+, problem solved. looks like router problem.
you can also try direct connect, if direct connect shows no issue, it confirms to be the router problem.
