Help. 3rd Floor no wireless signal.

Please help! Starhub modem is connected to the router on the 2nd floor. Currently all the 2nd floor has cable access. But the 3rd floor has one bedroom which is unable to get a signal at all. How can I solve this problem? All the items are stock starhub. Dlink DI-615 + motorola cable modem.

Try adjusting antenna to horizontal position.
RadioWave propagate perpendicular to antenna position.

using wireless N?
if not change to that, or change a better antenna or pull a lan cable up there which need alot of work to be done unless u want your cable all over the floor..

He did mentioned he is using a Wireless N Router (DIR-615), it's not the best N Router out there though as it's only using 2 antenna instead of 3 (which is one of the reasons why Wireless N is supposed to give you additional coverage/advantage).

Does level 3 have any windows?
If yes, perhaps can relocate the router at level 2 to be directly near the windows (directly under your level 3's network adaptor/laptop. Are you using a laptop or a network adaptor at level 3? If you are using a laptop, perhaps a long range usb wifi adaptor will do the tick...

SENAO does stock long range (high gain) wifi adaptors"
(Am using laptop on 3rd floor)

hmm, I would suggest you get another router/AP to be safe. and yes, i would think think that it's Modern>router>router.

you cant connect one more modem to the cable point on level 3, each modem is tied to one subscription. but you can connect an extra router, either by wire or by making it work as a wireless extender (which kinda affects the speed)

yes, high-gain antennas can be easily found at SLS.

Use of Wireless N Router, doesn't mean TS is using an N Adapter in that particular room.

So you might want to let us know on that.
