thats y i ask if there is any different in the antenna to get.
And was told by 1 shop guy in sls that the centre antenna of 855 is use for transmitting. So he told me just change the centre antenna will do.
Izzit correct or wrong?

Ok...
Can i confirm. is there any different between dual band 2.4/5Ghz antenna and the normal 2.4Ghz antenna?
Cos in the market or i tried at mediapro. there is no 2.4/5ghz high gain antenna.
Just qns is. normal high gain antenna will work in dual band? Or it will affect the 5Ghz range?

The ant design must cater for both

The 5GHz models uses the same antenna design as the 2.4GHz models.
Single /Dual band only need 1 antenna per signal to function and the same antenna can be used to transmit and receive 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously.
To explain to you why it works this way, you might want to read up on telecommunication principles and theory. :s13:

Really? So we can get any hi-gain 802.11n antenna and it will work for both 2.4 and 5?

There's no such mass market antenna for the dir 855. Nothing turned up on amazon / newegg.
There's no such thing as a 802.11n antenna. It's dual band antenna 2.4 and 5 ghz.

ha! so much for the comments when I changed my laptop's Intel 2200BG to a Sparklan Atheros mini PCI card.
some people said it wouldn't work but it did! ah well, that laptop has been retired now anyway and the access point model has long been discontinued....
