Hi guys, need some advice. I have a current vendor hosting my email and web. I will be terminating my service with them soon. I will be getting Singtel to host my email and another vendor to host my web.

Any advice on how can I go about this as I am pretty confused as the webhost has its own ip and I have to let my domain point to that ip. Does that means I will have another ip for the email also? This way my domain can only point to either ip and not 2.

Would really appreciate it if any of you guys got any advice for me on this.

You can ignore the IP issue you are worrying about unless your visitors access your website using the IP :p

Just transfer the domain to the new webhost will do.

As for the webhosting, backup your files and bring them over to your new webhost.

Everything should work just fine.

Not as complicated as you think.

That means the nameservers will just point to my new webhost's nameserver? Regarding the email part, how will it go about?

You mean you domain will domain to your webhost NS.

Email host be hosted with your own domain as well..

What is your current webhost and your soon-to-be webhost?

Yes email host will be using same domain. This is what happen, we have engaged a web designing company and the CMS they have we will have to host it on their server. Then our current email hosting will be shifting to Singtel. All these are just using same domain.

Just wondering how will this actually work out.

Ur MX record just point to the email server.
A record just point to new webhost.
NS record just point to new webhost's nameserver.

It all depends on your domain hosting company.

Some companies charges for changing the zone records, some provides the zone record management to their clients.

firstly, where is your domain hosted?

to move a webhost, simply change the nameserver (old to new NS) from your domain control panel.

for the email hosting, contact Singtel or look into their email hosting FAQ. i believe you will need to change the MX records from your new webhosting panel. most web hosting companies provide free DNS management. :D

hehe guys i know what to do Thanks! :D nah the webhost doesn't provide anyother service except hosting the site as they are actually a web design company with an unique CMS system and our site must be build on their system.
