Microsoft downloads are usually fast, because they got redundant download servers, located all over the globe.

microsoft webbie no surprise their server download speed very good.. they got too much money already.. so they can afford a lot of servers.. If you download from some ulu website and the speed is fast then that is a different thing..

Hey, you're right! I'm using MOL Premium, and results on Speedtest.net shows a d/l speed of 20Mbps, while in the past it was 12Mbps. Upload speed is still at 1Mbps though.

I guess StarHub has increased its Premium speed to 20Mbps, but it's cheapest contract price is still $56/month, while M1's 30Mbps plan is $58.8/month. Let's wait and see what promos StarHub is offering.

I'm on 12mbps plan too.. although speed test results shows 20mbps sometimes up to 24mbps, the download speed is still the same.. I don't see any improvement.. I mean HTTP download not BT download.. Surfing speed oso the same.. so there's no point in upgrading the speed but everything less is the same.. I still believe there is something wrong with speedtest.net.. If starhub really upgrade our speed like last time (11mbps then change to 12mbps) they confirm advertise because they want to attract more customers.. think about it.. :D

I just tested the MOL Premium speed again, it's up to 30Mbps! The sad thing is that upload is still stuck at 1Mbps, very bad for BT as cable broadband's upload speed affects download speeds tremendously.

I am on Premium plan and was able to get a wireless download speed of 4mb with Star Downloader used. Previously, the same download on the weekend could only achieve a high speed of 1.5mb.
I think there are some improvement. However, during peak hours, the speed was rather slow.

Sorry, my bad. I forgot to clear my cache before doing the speed test again.

The speed is still at 20Mbps/1Mbps after clearing cache. I think StarHub will be announcing a speed increase after the IT Show.

speedtest.net become a partner site of starhub, therefore the test are inaccurate, for accurate results, go to speedtet.sg

.....

Firstly, Speedtest.net is owned by ookla and is not hosted locally
Secondly, the singapore server listed in the list is hosted by NewMediaExpress.
Thirdly, NME owns speedtest.sg, which is the same test server, clicking on either one still test against the same server.
Fourth, they get their b/w from SH
Lastly, IT IS accurate even if its a partner or not, I let u figure out why :)

Max i have gotten from speedtest.net was 30mbps

From Speedtest.sg:
Download Speed: 7837 kbps (979.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 674 kbps (84.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

How do you explain this? The difference is 3x.
And speedtest.sg is from starhub.speedtest.com.sg

Are u testing them on the same PC, connection and at the same time?

I don't have an explanation for you. Regarding my above mentioned claims, you can click on start test on both the flash utility and you will see the TCP connection both connected to 203.116.178.2

BTW, are you guessing the domain by luck? Try this - http://ihatexxyy.speedtest.com.sg ;)
